Nerds Shouldn't Rap
I claim Georgetown, but I may or may not have attended an Ivy league school, so I felt compelled to address this song.
If you haven't heard already, a group of Yale nerds called 108 Tongues have recorded a song called, "Fuck Harvard" as on ode to the rivalry that is the Harvard/Yale football game
A lot of other Ivy nerds are all upset because there were some lyrics about raping girls at Harvard or something. Although I am a woman and it may shock you that I agree that rape is bad, I listen to any quantity of radio stations that have "Hot" in front of the call letters and blare misogynistic music at all hours of the day, so I don't have much of a leg to stand on.
First of all, I want to say this song is WAAAYYY better than the infamous U of M song, "7th Floor Crew." It's not even a question. Production value.... Flow... Miami should feel disgraced (finally). I hope Randy Shannon addresses the lack of quality MC's in his program immediately. You can't let New Haven assholes out rap The U. That's not acceptable.
And to the mainstream media, you hate on The U, but you don't call out these blue chip mofos? Another Holy Cross situation, I see.
This song actually has a pretty good beat. I found myself listening to the whole song which clocks in over 5 minutes (way too long, nerds). The flow is good, but the lyrics are trash.
Like typical Ivy p*ssies, one of the members of the group has apolgized for offending people. (I mean, if you're going to say it, say it and stand by it.) He claims to be "breaking down and exposing stereotypes via flagrant and offensive humor [that] help to promote dialogue about painful topics and unity" via the opus, "Fuck Harvard." Okayyy.... More proof that high test scores don't correlate with actual intelligence.
And it appears from the group's MySpace page, the group is comprised of two Puerto-Ricans and a Black dude. You made it to Yale. QUIT RAPPING! Study for your finals, son.

Thanks to The Big Picture for providing the enlightenment that allowed me to write this post.
