Dwyane Talks Ish

To quote the Nature Rick Flair, "Woooooooo!"

Dwyane Wade unleashed on Dirk Nowitski.

"Dirk said that they gave us the championship last year. But he's the reason they lost the championship because he wasn't the leader he's supposed to be in the closing moments."

You're preaching to the choir, baby.

And he had a little free advice for Lebron too.

"You could see he doesn't have that LeBron pep in his step, that excitement that he normally brings to a game. He's got to find a way to get that excitement of playing the game back."

Don't be surprised to catch Dwyane in the stands sipping a $7 cold one chanting, "Overrated!" That said, I don't think Dwyane should give interviews after drinking Jack Daniels. It's clearly making him angry. It's either Jack or an allergic reaction to the diamonds in his championship ring.

Update: Lebron clearly took Dwyane's observations to heart. The Cavaliers torched the Heat last night 103-79.

Update: Mark Cuban had a response. Among the highlights:

Say what? Is this the DWade of some of the lamest, boring commercials known to man? Commercials that are singlehandedly responsible for selling more commercial skipping Tivos than anything else on TV?

Your coach sat players for being fat. I guess you couldnt lead them away from the buffet.

You are an amazing player Dwayne. I love watching you shoot free throws. What you know about Dirk's leadership skills is non existent. You don't have a clue. Your ability to evaluate leadership skills....well you obviously have an overinflated value of your own. Did you take business classes at Marquette?

You and Dwayne are right...

Dirk doesn't have the "it" factor that allows him to transcend the game.

Wade has it, Jordan had it.

Some people have it, some people don't.

Dirk Doesn't.

And Dirk will never have it.

You and Dwayne are also wrong...

Dirk is still a singular talent. Dirk isn't a transcendent star between his ears, but he is on the floor.

What happened to Dirk in June in the Finals will not happen again.

What happened in the Finals had more to do with Pat Riley v. Avery Johnson than it did Dwayne Wade v. Dirk Nowitzki.

You had a veteran team coached by a n all time great coach with veteran stars (Shaq, Mourning, Payton, Walker to a lesser extent) and one singular once in a lifetime star with as much heart as he has talent.

against

a young well constructed team of role players tasting the nectar of championship opportunity for the first time built around a singular talent coached by a rookie coach in his first full season.

Riley and Wade got in their heads and they beat them in their MINDS before they beat them on the court.

Terry, Stackhouse, et al. Have stepped their game up...they had to live with the horror of watching the ring they coveted just get ripped from their fingers in front of the whole world.

That won't happen this year.

having said all that...id trade Dirk for Gilbert in a SECOND.

Gilbert is a STAR in search of additional pieces.
Unless it goes to his head.

But Gilbert is AMAZING.

It's pretty much like the Old Spice ad with Bruce Campbell: "If you don't have it, people just know."
