Fashion Round Up - Damon Jones Edition?

Damon Jones has proclaimed himself the best dresser in the NBA. He boasts of owning 450 suits and 150 pairs of shoes.
Jones says he selects his game-night attire based on the magnitude of the contest.
"It depends on where we are, the importance of the game and the amount of media attention surrounding the game. If it's a TNT or ESPN game, I would wear a suit and tie with my customary Gucci or Louis Vuitton slippers. If it's just a regular TV game, I would go with jeans and slippers."
He's very comfortable in his masculinity, huh, to throw the term "slippers" around so casually.
And NBA Cares is not the only charity going on the league. Jones has appointed himself a fashion mentor to all the players in the league who call him for tips. He is even taking credit for Dwyane Wade being named GQ's best dressed man.
"D-Wade was a sweat suit and jeans type of guy. I think my flair kind of propelled him to what he is off the basketball floor. A lot of guys say they don't like it. It doesn't look good. Now I'm starting to see a lot of guys taking on my style."
I always thought Damon was an adventurous dresser. Everything he wears is well fitted. However, he is a little over the top for my taste sometimes. I would call him well-dressed for a flashy dresser. And not everyone in the league agrees that Damon is the best dressed. Dikembe Mutombo, for one.
He does very well," Houston center Dikembe Mutombo says. "But I have a few questions about some of the colors he brings. He reminds me more of (former NBA player) Charles Oakley. He must be from Milwaukee or Cleveland."
...he questions Jones' status as the best-dressed player in the NBA.
"Who voted for him?" Mutombo says. "I need to see that vote."
Dikembe's got jokes. But midwest bamas do dress a little too flashy sometimes.
Damon promises that we have not the seen the best of his fashion stylings. He has already picked out 4 outfits for the NBA All Star Weekend coming up.
And Damon offers a few fashion tidbits, although he proclaims that none of his will ever be on his level. It's a mistake for us to try.
What sets guys apart and puts me way ahead of everybody else is my great shirt and tie combinations. The biggest fashion mistake is trying to reach my level. That cannot and will not happen. No one will ever be able to put clothes on the way I do.
Damon is right about one thing. For men, it's all about the shirt and tie, starting with a good shirt.
Damon's Fashion Faux Pas:
1. Wearing white before Easter
2. Wearing linen other than in the summer
3. Wearing belts and shoes that don't match
4. Wearing oversized clothes
Again, Damon is right (especially about that wearing white thing. Dress for the season, people). So, we'll see what he has to offer up on during All Star Weekend and what shall be of his new look. I'll be watching.
