Can someone explain to me why Strahan has to pay $18,000 a month child support, ON TOP OF the $15 mil he's paying in cash? I'm thinking his child support can be found somewhere in that $15 million. And what kid needs $18,000 a month to be supported? Does he have a coke habit?

The reason for the large amount of child support is b/c the child support is determined on the basis of the living standards of the parent. This is a modern standard used in some states. So, if the daddy is rich, the kid is not going to have to go and stay with momma in the projects. The child support allows for appropriate housing, clothes, private schools, ski trips, etc. So this is why Strahan and Diddy pay enormous child support. Not so much b/c the kids need it, but b/c if daddy's rich, then the kiddies are rich too.

Child support is for the kid. Alimony is for the ex. They are two separate things.

I hear you. Not buying it, about it being two separate things. Do the kids manage their accounts with no counsel from the mom? Legally, it's two separate things. From a practical standpoint, the mom controls the money. Whenever my dad did happen to pay child support, I don't remember my mom handing me a check and telling me to go forth and frolic. Like Johnnie Taylor once sang, "It's cheaper to keep her." That withstanding, I don't have much sympathy for Strahan. I bet he'll hire a better lawyer next time.

If there's such a thing as reincarnation, I want to come back as an athlete's kid. If I'm "getting" $18,000 a month after a divorce, I'd take my parents to court to negotiate an increase in my allowance up to at least $10,000 while they're still married:)

You better hear me. Stay married, lol!

Alimony and child support are definitely two separate things. Most of the time, alimony is for a fixed amount of time or expires when the ex gets remarried. So when the alimony runs out, the kids still need ski trips :)

Yes, the money is paid to the ex and, sure, the ex benefits, but it's impossible to take care of the kids without housing, utilities, caviar etc. So, yeah, the ex lives in the phat house the child support is paying for. So is life...

Especially with such large child support awards, I think it is possible to establish clear standards on how the money will be spent or you can hire somebody to audit the baby momma. But that costs too. So is life...

She deserves everything she gets. Strahan's wife was integral in his success, right? Without her, he'd have never made the NFL.

As far as Buckhalter; dang, let the brother find out if the baby IS his. Can you blame him for wanting to know before he starts doling out cash to the outstretched babymomma money grip?
