+3, Strip Clubs
I have been trying to use my unique female powers in the sports blogosphere for good. I have tried to proclaim a seemingly simple rule.
Do not take women on dates to strip clubs. Yet, actions contrary to this advice continue to escalate from a trend toward a full fledged epidemic.
To be clear, sure, you can go to gentlemen's clubs with your significant other or just with a female friend solely for the purposes of hanging out, if you're lucky enough to have those kind of friends. But taking a female as some sort of foreplay for casual hook up? Bad move. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Only trouble will result.
Alex Rodriquez had to learn. So did Pacman Jones.
Will Isiah Thomas be next?
To be fair, Isiah wasn't the one who took a girl out to the strip clubs. It was Stephon Marbury. But the whole issue is now part of the sexual harassment suit filed by Anucha Browne Sanders against Thomas. Sanders is alleging that a Knicks dancer had "drunken sex" with Stephon Marbury after an evening at a gentlemen's club because the dancer "..did not believe she could say no because of who Marbury is." Browne Sanders is disclosing this incident to support her claims of a hostile work environment.
Whether Thomas or Marbury suffer repercussions from the misstep remains to be seen. But Marbury, Thomas or whoever the next victim is have only themselves to blame. The rule is so simple.

It's funny how the same reasons that drive athletes to want to play in New York usually lead ot the scenarios that drive them out.
Oh, Joe Namath, where art thou?
