Fashion Round Up - The Apology Edition

Life is still kind of tough for Michael Irvin this week. People are still speculating on his future at the Worldwide Leader. Right now, my pitchfork has an exclusive contract with the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff, so I have a little room in my heart to show Irvin some love.

I think Irvin made a sort of fashion mea culpa last week. I noticed that he dressed in darker tones. Nothing too over the top. I think this is a good look for Irvin, given his overwhelming personality. Conservative dressing subliminally balances Irvin's inherent garishness. And I love the chocolate and eggplant pairing. The colors look luxurious and elegant together. This has to be one of my favorite Irvin outfits EVER.

Did you catch Irvin's "fight" with Jaws on Countdown? Hilarious!!

Notice the length on Irvin's jacket. A little extra length to be edgy, but not so much that he's mistaken for a pimp. But we all know Mike has a little pimp in him.

Where do you think Jake Delhomme picked up this gem of a leather jacket? My money's on Burlington Coat Factory. Sorry, I shouldn't make fun of an injured man. In fact, thank you, Jake. The Falcons really appreciate you sitting out this Sunday. We need all the help we can get to make it to the playoffs.

Some guys on 790 the Zone thought Jason Whitlock had returned to ESPN. In fact, it's just Michael Wilbon. You might want to hit the treadmill, brah. Being mistaken for Whitlock is NOT a good look.

Bryant Gumbel may suck at play by play, but he's a consistently good dresser. I like the scarf. Bryant was showing off too, because he tucked the scarf inside the coat later in the broadcast. Chris Collingsworth looks good here too. I like the turned over lapels and turtleneck. He looks much better in this than he does in his typical attire of JC Penney suits. Bryant and Chris should be doing color together. Get somebody else to do play by play. I was really looking forward to this duo, but it has been a shocking and rare misstep by the NFLN.

And speaking of turtlenecks, I like this look for Howie Long. I didn't at first because I thought it was a mock turtleneck. Real men don't wear mock turtlenecks. Either wear the turtleneck or don't. High definition TV shows off the beautiful material the turtleneck is made of. It's probably a fine gauge cashmere or something. I'm guessing that turtleneck cost around $500. Nice.

And staying on the Fox set, Terry Bradshaw (or Kaptain Kangol, take your pick) is wearing a hat this week. We might see more of this look because the guys said Terry has some sort of head gash. I don't even want to know... I'm kind of lukewarm on this look. Overall, he pulls it off, but I think he could have worked a little harder. High definition shows that the tone of the hat and suit don't match. And the hat is probably a little too casual.

If you want to know how to wear a hat on set, see Deion Sanders. Deion looks flawless in the blistering Pittsburgh cold. And I love, love, love how he pulled the scarf out just so to show off the graphic pattern. Wonderful.

Even Tony Kornheiser's hat game might be better than Terry's. Yeah, this is a strange get-up, but it kinda works.

Seen Mark Cuban lately? Well, he's tightened up. I like the goatee and the haircut. He even looks, dare I say it, sexy. And I think many of us would love one of those t-shirts under the Christmas tree.

Matt Jones! Who? Matt Jones! Sorry, I couldn't resist... I just can't believe Matt did a press conference like this. He is the very personification of why "white trash" is an acceptable part of the lexicon.

It's mi amor, Antonio Romo. You can't do interview in WRINKLED t-shirts, hombre.

Bill Walton still wears these tie dye shirts? Wow.

Vince Young is pushing the envelope this week in a pink shirt under a plaid suit. It works above the waist, but I wonder how this looks full length. Plaid can be too much of a good thing.

But this week's fashion winner is David Garrard. I have nothing but praise for this ensemble. I like the bold color pairing. The fabric, especially on the shirt and tie, is beautiful. The lines are right. The lapels suit his frame. Pocket square... Oh, everything is right about this outfit. Kudos.
